Information for Summer Students

Welcome to Summer in NYC! We are excited you will be joining us at our Greenwich Village campus. NYU offers one of the largest summer programs in the country, and we are dedicated to making sure your time here is both educational and enjoyable.

Here, you will find information about accessing your schedule, preparing for your session, adding and dropping courses, paying your bill, and summer life in New York City.

Register for classes and beyond...

Now that you are a Summer in NYC student, there are a few remaining steps that you must complete to register for classes and prepare for your first day.

Activate your Net ID

Go to http://start.nyu.edu and follow the instructions. Your NetID is your login and username for your NYU e-mail account.

Log in to NYUHome

Go to http://home.nyu.edu and enter your NetID and password. Visit the various tabs to familiarize yourself with the layout and information available. Confirm that you have access to your e-mail account.

Log in to Albert
Albert (NYU’s student information system) displays your schedule, classroom location, and final grades. From the NYUHome Welcome screen, click on the tab labeled "Academics." On the upper left side of the Academics page, click the box labeled "Albert Login." You will now be at the Albert Welcome screen.

Check your NYU E-mail
Once you activate your NYUHome account you can check your NYU e-mail by logging in to NYUHome and clicking the "E-mail" link, or navigating directly to email.nyu.edu, and using your NYUHome credentials. All NYU correspondence from this point on will be sent to your NYU e-mail address.

Enroll in Classes

Through the Student Center in Albert, click on the "Enroll" link on the left-hand side of the page and select classes to enter into your shopping cart. Be sure to use the search function on the right hand side of the course guide in order to narrow your search by subject, session, or by open/closed status. Once your selected courses are in your shopping cart, confirm classes by clicking "Finish Enrolling."

If you are interested in enrolling in more than one class, select "Add another class" and repeat the process. Students are allowed to take up to 8 credits per 6-week session.

If you are blocked from registering for a course for any reason, please submit an Enrollment Request Form with the Academic Resource Center. You must include your full name and NYU ID Number (your N number) in all communications.

Review Your Schedule

In the student center, select "My Class Schedule" to find out the location, dates and times for the courses you selected.

Summer in NYC students have the option to live on campus. Once you are admitted, you will receive information on how to apply for housing via email. Students who choose to live on campus must sign up for a meal plan with 10 or more meals per week.

To learn more about housing and meal plans, visit the Housing and Resources web page.

Once you are registered for your summer courses, you will be required to pay your bill. Notification regarding your tuition bill will be sent to your NYU e-mail address beginning in mid-April.

You can access and pay your bill via Albert 24 hours a day.

  • Log in to your NYUHome account.
  • Open Albert.
  • Enter your student center.
  • Click on ‘View Bursar Account’ (bottom right hand corner under ‘Finances’).
  • Follow the instructions to make a payment.

Our preferred method of payment is by electronic check. There is no additional fee for this safe and secure service. If you are unable to pay using an electronic check, please select one of our other methods of payment.

If you would like to add a parent to your eSuite account, follow the directions found here. Account activity can be viewed by signing into eSuite and clicking on 'View Activity' under the 'My Account' tab.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Bursar at bursar.studentaccounts@nyu.edu or 212-998-2806. You may also visit their website.

Once you have completed summer courses at NYU, you may view your grades via Albert by going to your Student Center and selecting "Transcript-Unofficial" from the drop down menu. Please allow 2-3 weeks for grades to be posted.

If you plan to request a transcript (see below), please be sure to wait until your grades have posted.

Academic transcripts are not automatically sent at the end of summer. If you would like an academic transcript, you must make a request via Albert or the University Registrar's website.

Please wait until all grades have posted to your Albert account before requesting a transcript.

Transcripts can be requested at any time. If you have a valid netID, you can request an official transcript by signing into Albert and going to your Student Center. From the drop down menu, click on "Transcript-Official."

If you do not have a valid NYU netID, visit the Official Transcripts webpage for specific instructions.

Before you get to class:

The NYUCard is a multipurpose identification card issued to all registered students. For security purposes, all students are required to have their NYUCard in their possession at all times.

To obtain your card, visit the NYUCard Center at 383 Lafayette Street (corner of East 4th Street and Lafayette). For the NYUCard Center’s hours of operation or for information regarding your NYUCard, please call 212-433-CARD or visit their website.

Students are asked to turn in their NYU ID Card at the end of their term of study (it will be deactivated at that time). If a student returns for a future term without having turned in their ID Card they will be assessed a $15 replacement fee.
