The NYU Summer in NYC program offers multiple sessions of varying durations. You can view the sessions and their dates here. Please note: Not all courses are available in every session. To see if the course you’re interested in is offered during a certain session, go to the course catalog and use the Course Search page's functions across the top and on the right-hand menu to refine your search by picking your preferred session from the ‘Session’ tab. Course information will be updated on an ongoing basis.

Registrants are eligible to apply to NYU Summer in NYC as long as they have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Attending NYU Summer in NYC is a registration process - not an admissions process. Students can begin enrolling in courses after their registration has been processed by the Office of University Programs. Register now!

Students can register until the day before the session starts.

Yes, all of the NYU Summer courses award credit; however, you should check with your home institution/school to determine if the NYU Summer courses you take are applicable towards your degree requirements.

If you are accepted to NYU as an incoming student for the fall semester and wish to take courses as a visiting student during the summer, you are strongly encouraged to speak with an academic advisor in the school at NYU to which you were accepted before registering for summer courses. If you do not know how to get in touch with your academic advisor, please email university.programs@nyu.edu for assistance.

All students taking courses and/or living on campus must have an NYU ID card. The NYUCard identifies you as an NYU summer student, grants you access NYU buildings and resources, acts as your dining card if you have a meal plan, and gets you student discounts around the city. You may also add Campus Cash to your card and use it like a debit card to pay for food and other goods at participating local merchants. Information about the NYUCard, including Campus Cash, is available online.

Students living in summer housing can submit a valid ID photo in advance of their arrival so that their NYUCard is available when they check-in. The Office of Summer Housing will include instructions on how to submit a photo in pre-arrival information they email all residents. Please read your NYU emails carefully so you do not miss important information! To submit your photo ID online, you will log in to NYUHome and reenter your completed summer housing application. In your housing application, you will see a newly activated field for the submission of an ID photo. Questions about submitting your ID photo through your housing application may be addressed to summer.housing@nyu.edu. Students who submit a photo in advance may pick up their cards from the following locations:

Commuter students may have their pictures taken and cards printed in person at the NYUCard Center Monday-Friday during the above listed hours.

All students and residents must present a valid photo ID (passport, driver’s license, state issued ID, etc.) to get their NYUCards.

The MTA, MetroNorth, and LIRR do not have student discounts on tickets. The only public transportation system that has discounts for students is New Jersey Transit. Information is online under Transportation Discounts.

All students registered in courses and residents in NYU Housing have access to the NYU athletic facilities: Coles Sports Center and Palladium Athletic Facility. You must have your NYUCard to access either facility. Further information about each location is online.

Students registered in courses at NYU during the summer and students covered by NYU student health insurance have access to the Student Health Center. If a procedure or service carries a fee, the student or his/her insurance company will be billed. Summer residents not registered at NYU do not have access to the Student Health Center. All summer residents and students are encouraged to carry an insurance card with them at all times in case of needed treatment or an emergency.

NYU students taking courses over the summer should contact their academic advisor for information about courses and/or registration. Non-NYU students taking courses over the summer may contact the Office of University Programs with questions about courses and registration.

Please note: Students accepted as freshman or transfer students for Fall 2013 who wish to take summer courses must contact the Office of University Programs at university.programs@nyu.edu for specific information about summer course selection and registration.

You must request an official transcript to be sent to your University by submittng a transcript request form to NYU’s Office of the Registrar.

If your first choice course is full (or closed), we advise you to enroll in another class of your interest. In the case that students drop a class and space becomes available, you can swap courses. We encourage students to apply early.

We encourage you to contact the department that offers the course you are interested in taking. A full list of contacts can be found here.

Summer courses condense 15 weeks of material into short sessions. Missing even a few days can be detrimental to your understanding the material and your ability to contribute to class discussions. If you are currently enrolled in a course, we advise you to speak with your professor about extended absences.

The Financial Aid Application is automatically sent to students who indicate an interest in financial aid in their Summer Registration Forms. Students must submit their FAFSA. Students are encouraged to seek financial assistance from their home institutions through a consortium agreement with NYU. Learn more.

University housing is available for NYU Summer students.

Students in specific programs, such as NYU Precollege, may have limitations regarding guests. Students in programs should check with their specific program regarding guest policies. For general summer residents, however, family members and friends may visit you in your residence hall. Guests need to be signed in upon arrival. NYU sometimes offers guest housing (depending on availability) for a small fee; interested guests can inquire by e-mailing greenwich.commuter@nyu.edu.
