The program offers students an intensive opportunity to further develop their capacity for leadership while supporting the Leadership Initiative’s mission to develop ethical and inclusive leadership for impact.
Opportunity to participate, volunteer and engage other students in Leadership Initiative events. In our first year, we launched a conversation across NYU to together define what it means for a university to equip students for leadership that is ethical and draws on diversity and difference to achieve a shared purpose. Leadership Initiative events provide on-going opportunities for the NYU community to continue this conversation, make new connections and advance leadership knowledge and practice.
Hands-on, interactive workshops to explore frameworks for ethical and inclusive leadership and develop new skills. Fellows will attend six workshops offered on Friday mornings throughout the year. The workshops will explore leadership frameworks and topics, including understanding vision, values and purpose; developing a personal narrative; active listening skills; managing conflict; facilitating teamwork and collaboration; and building leadership in others.
Tools to facilitate self-discovery, personal mastery and build a strong foundation to engage in leadership with others. Fellows will meet with a coach four times during the program to identify and make progress on individual leadership development goals.
An opportunity to practice leadership and empower other NYU students to step-up. At the conclusion of the program, Fellows will participate in a team challenge to share their learning from the program with peers across NYU and experience the core leadership processes of setting direction, aligning efforts, building commitment and delivering results.
