Day 1:Life Science Expo

The Day 1 Expos are designed to showcase NYU’s promising research and innovation. Through a series of Expos, NYU seeks to generate interest in and excitement from the entrepreneurial and venture capital ecosystems, identify new opportunities for commercialization, and open doors for entrepreneurial matchmaking, connect with potential investors and business partners, and identify potential licensing and joint venture opportunities.

The inaugural event was held on November 29, 2010 to celebrate NYU’s information technology (IT) innovations and create opportunities for commercialization.  In Spring 2011, NYU hosted the Day 1:Life Science Expo, focusing on NYU’s medical and life science research and innovations spanning therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, biomaterials, healthcare IT and bioinformatics. Both events were attended by more than 100 guest and featured a wide range of research with commercial potential.

2011 Day 1:Life Sciene Expo at a Glance

More than 25 life science research projects were featured at the 2011 Life Sciences Expo. The format was a blend between a science fair and a venture fair. NYU's distinguished faculty and their students and post-docs presented their research to guests in an informal, one-on-one basis.

Each project was provided its own station equipped with a 4’x3’ poster, handouts and demonstrations (if applicable).

Guests included a mixture of life science entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors, and executives from startup and major life science companies.

Attendees had the opportunity to stop and speak with each team, learn more, engage in Q&A, and discuss opportunities for collaboration and further commercialization efforts.
