Support the Fund

There’s an extraordinary, unrealized potential for NYU research to create new, life-improving industries, spark economic growth and solve society’s most pressing problems. It’s happened in the past with biotechnology, nanotechnology, software and electronics; giants such as Genentech, Cisco, Chiron and Google were all born out of university research. In addition, three of the most transformative technology companies of the past 30 years (Microsoft, Dell and Facebook) were dreamed up in undergraduate dorm rooms. With your help, NYU can meld its scholarly mission to advance human knowledge with the entrepreneurial spirit to commercialize their discoveries, ideas and innovations.

You can help NYU become an engine of innovation and startups in New York City with a contribution to the NYU Innovation Venture Fund, which will directly support equity investments in startups commercializing NYU innovations. Because the Fund is evergreen--recycling the proceeds of successful spinouts into tomorrow’s ventures--your contribution today helps the Fund become self-sustaining. Moreover, any excess proceeds will support future research, providing NYU with a pathway to sustainable innovation, unique among its peers.

All donors to the Fund will receive a written annual report. Major donors may be invited to join the executive advisory board.

Other ways to get involved:

Sponsor an Event. The Fund sponsors several events to promote entrepreneurship and technology commercialization within the university including the NYU Technology Venture Competition, the Day 1:Tech/Life Science Expo, the NYU Entrepreneurs Speaker Series, and the NYU Entrepreneurs Festival among others.  Each of these programs could benefit and expand their reach and utility with additional financial support.

Partner with NYU scientists and technologist. NYU is rich in promising technologies in need of experienced entrepreneurs who can partner with our researchers and scientists to lead the commercial transformation into an early-stage business venture.

Become a mentor. If you’re live in or near (or regularly visit) New York City and have entrepreneurial, executive and technology startup experience, consider becoming a mentor who can coach NYU students, faculty and researchers.
