An extraordinary, unrealized potential exists for NYU research to create life-improving industries, spark economic growth and solve society’s most pressing problems. It’s happened in the past with biotechnology, nanotechnology, software and electronics; giants such as Genentech, Cisco, Chiron and Google were all born out of university research. In addition, three of the most transformative technology companies of the past thirty years (Microsoft, Dell and Facebook) were dreamed up in undergraduate dorm rooms. New York University is no exception in this regard. Our alumni have founded and built industry-defining companies including ADP, Arista Records, Bloomberg, Fairchild Semiconductor, Home Depot, Southwest Airlines, and Symbol Technologies, among many others. More recently, NYU entrepreneurs have stepped up the pace, founding hot new startups including Etsy, Foursquare, Constellation Pharmaceuticals, Twitter, Seamless Web and Square. With your help, NYU can meld its scholarly mission to advance human knowledge with the entrepreneurial spirit to commercialize even more discoveries, ideas and inventions.
You can help NYU become an engine of innovation for startups in New York City with a contribution to the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute. Donors would be a part of a vibrant and active community of entrepreneurs and investors. Major gift donors may also qualify to become candidates for the Institute’s Executive Advisory Board.
