Welcome to NYU!

With over 50,000 students and 19,000 employees, there are lots of reasons to visit NYU. Our home base in New York City is spread throughout the city, from the Upper East Side of Manhattan through midtown, the heart of Greenwich Village to the Financial District and even downtown Brooklyn. One of the most creative and energetic cities in the world, New York City's historic neighborhoods have attracted generations of artists and intellectuals becoming an important extension of the University's campus.

Prepare for Your Visit

Whether you are here for an admissions tour, to attend an event, or myriad other opportunities to interact with NYU, we invite all of our guests to enjoy the vibrancy New York City, our NYU community.

It is important that you, as a visitor, are prepared for requirements ahead of time including sponsorship in some cases:

Campus Tours, Pre-Registered, or Ticketed Events

Events and activities where you have already RSVP'd, signed-up, bought a ticket, or provided NYU your name and information before visiting fall into this category. This could include tours, conferences, a ticketed performance in one of our theatres, etc.

  • You are already registered and the NYU community member hosting your event will ensure you're properly sponsored

Events Open to the Public Without Pre-registration

Events and activities where you were not required to provide your name and information to NYU or purchase a ticket before visiting. For example, a visit to the Grey Art Gallery or a neighborhood community event in one of our event spaces.

  • You are NOT required to be sponsored by a current NYU community member but you may be asked to sign in and present an ID when you arrive

Other Academic, Business, or Personal Visits

Other meetings, events, and activities, where you plan to visit or have been invited to NYU.  These types of visits typically are ad hoc and for short periods of time.  Examples could be a guest lecture, vendor business presentation, or a family member visiting.

NOTE: visitors must be prepared to show a valid government-issued photo ID (children under 18 can provide non-government identification).
