Supervisors are responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date records of employees' attendance and work hours including vacation, sick days, and overtime. Supervisors are also responsible for officially approving any time records submitted for payment. HR Officers can provide information about the formal record keeping procedure and forms for their units.
Supervisors should instruct employees to report all unscheduled absences from work on a daily basis and as far in advance of the start of the work day as is practicable.
No employee should sign (as final approval) his or her own report. Only an authorized supervisor or manager may do this.
The Payroll department maintains attendance records for hourly employees paid weekly or bi-weekly.
The Payroll department does not maintain attendance records for code 100/110 employees. Record keeping for these employees is the responsibility of the HR Officer.
