Bands and Market Reference Ranges

Jobs within object codes 100/110 and non-exempt, non-union 106/116 are further classified into bands. The band assigned to a job depends on its level of complexity and responsibility relative to other jobs at the University. Each band has corresponding market reference ranges. There are six bands for administrative and professional positions in codes 100/110 and non-exempt, non-union positions in codes 106/116. To learn more, see NYU Bands.

NYU no longer provides market reference ranges that apply to all positions in a specific band level because hiring salaries are based on a number of factors, such as a candidate's background and experience as well as the budget allocated for a position. Candidates should provide their salary requirements in their cover letter.

Employees in codes 104/114, 106/116, and 107/117 covered by a collective bargaining agreement should refer to the appropriate contract.
