An employee is not required to work, and will be paid for a maximum of three working days immediately following the death of his or her spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, legal guardian, brother, sister, child, or grandparent. Any of these days may be postponed for up to two weeks from the date of the death, if necessary, to permit attendance at the funeral.

In addition, an employee may be excused from work for one day with pay to attend the funeral of a close relative other than those listed above. Supervisors may require proof of death.
