Tera Nakata is a Diversity and Inclusion Case Manager in the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO). Tera uses she / hers / herself (or none) pronouns. Her responsibilities include managing and operating the Bias Response Line, and assisting with investigations that fall under the Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policies (faculty and staff / students) and the Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, and Stalking Policy.
Before joining OEO, Tera worked at NYU within the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services (RLHS) as a Residence Hall Director (RHD) and Diversity Educator. As a RHD, Tera had experience working within several building communities and across different populations of students, including undergraduate and graduates. As the Diversity Educator, Tera facilitated ongoing professional development opportunities (trainings, speakers, discussion groups, etc) for full time and student staff, and organized student / campus events, focusing on areas of diversity, social justice, equity, and inclusion. She also split time working within the NYU Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP), where she primarily assisted in the University’s campus-wide diversity initiatives. Prior to NYU, Tera worked at the University of California, Berkeley, in Residential and Student Service Programs.
Tera earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Arts in Higher Education / Student Personnel Administration from New York University.
