A key element of NYU’s Compliance Program is its structure which integrates centralized approval and oversight of the Compliance Program by the Audit and Compliance Committee of the NYU Board of Trustees with decentralized compliance responsibilities resting with compliance officers in the business units and schools, led and managed through University-wide compliance and risk committees by the Vice President and Chief Global Compliance Officer and the Office of Compliance and Risk Management. The Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees has overall responsibility for oversight of NYU's Compliance Program.
Advises the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, and through him the University-wide compliance committees, on reporting on the Compliance Program to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the NYU Board of Trustees and the concerns of top leadership.
The Compliance Program is carried out through a number of interrelated compliance committees and working groups, whose compliance work is coordinated by OCRM. At Washington Square, OCRM co-chairs chairs two committees that coordinate day-to day compliance activities: the Compliance and Risk Officers Working Group (COWG) and the Schools Compliance and Risk Officers Task Force (SCOT).
