President Hamilton Urges the Senate and House to Protect DACA Students

US Capitol

On the heels of his Sept. 5 letter to the NYU community—sent the day the White House announced its decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program—NYU President Andy Hamilton has written 31 members of the U.S. Congress, imploring them to protect DACA students at NYU and beyond.

"The Dreamers among our students earned their place here by dint of their talent, their drive, and their hard work. They enliven our classrooms and laboratories, and contribute greatly to campus life. They are our proteges, our mentees, our collaborators and our friends," said Hamilton. "And the loss of the Dreamers would not just be a blow to our campus community, it would be unjust."
