NYU College of Nursing Creates Paulette Goddard Professorship in Global Health Nursing

New York University College of Nursing (NYUCN) is pleased to announce the creation of the Paulette Goddard Professorship in Global Health Nursing. NYUCN has appointed Ann Kurth, PhD, CNM, FAAN, to the newly created endowed professorship beginning September 1, 2014. Dr. Kurth is Professor of Nursing, Medicine, and Public Health at New York University, executive director of NYU Nursing Global, and associate dean for Research at NYU Global Institute of Public Health.

“I am very pleased that Dr. Kurth will be the first person to hold this important new chair at the college,” said Dr. Eileen M. Sullivan-Marx, dean of NYU College of Nursing. “As an internationally recognized leader in health promotion and nursing, Ann has been an outstanding ambassador for the college and for NYU around the world. This professorship recognizes and honors Ann for her numerous contributions to our profession and to the advancement of global health.”

Dr. Kurth has a PhD in epidemiology (University of Washington), a MSN in nurse-midwifery (Yale University), and an MPH (Columbia University). Her research on sexual and reproductive health and on global health system strengthening has received funding from NIH, Gates Foundation, UNAIDS, CDC, and others in the US and internationally. Dr. Kurth has published 110 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and scholarly monographs. She served as President of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. Dr. Kurth was a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee on PEPFAR2 Evaluation. She is an elected member of the IOM, a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and of the New York Academy of Medicine, and is a member of the 2014-2018 US Preventive Services Task Force.
