The Humanities Initiative’s Latest Publication Showcases Humanities Research at NYU

This fall, the Humanities Initiative at NYU launched its latest publication, The Humanities at NYU: Tradition and Innovation. The work showcases the diversity of projects and research in the humanities at the university, celebrating the commitment of NYU’s faculty and students to scholarship, professional education, and the global community. Spearheaded by faculty director and professor of Italian studies Jane Tylus and compiled by staff and faculty, The Humanities at NYU examines humanities-related contributions in leadership, public knowledge, science, global studies, and the digital realm, and serves as a resource for synthesizing the university’s efforts in a variety of disciplines.

For the past five years, the initiative has supported cohorts of graduate and faculty fellows, clusters of faculty engaged in team-teaching, and working research groups. It has recently begun a digital humanities initiative under the leadership of Thomas Augst, an associate professor in the Department of English, and annually hosts a summer research program for underrepresented undergraduates interested in academic careers.
