New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Division of Programs in Business, in conjunction with the Financial Planning Association of New York will host the 11th Annual Financial Fitness Workshop to kick-off this year’s National Financial Planning Week in New York. The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at NYU’s School of Law, Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South.
This year the workshop will feature two outstanding speakers in addition to insights and personal financial strategies from Certified Financial Planners and attorneys in the classroom sessions. Ed Slott, nicknamed "America's IRA Expert" by The Wall Street Journal, will open the event with his talk Your Plan, NOT the Government Plan. This will be a totally unique, entertaining and educational presentation for consumers who have spent or will spend a lifetime saving for their retirement and now need to know how to protect those savings from fatal and costly errors and needless and excessive taxation. The program focuses on creating a plan to reduce or eliminate the heavy taxes on distributions from IRAs, 401(k)s and other retirement savings, including Roth IRA conversions.
Jonathan D. Pond, PBS host and author, will give the luncheon address Money $marts. He will present his observations and suggestions for thriving in today’s challenging investment and financial planning environment. No matter how the economy and investment markets are faring, there are always sensible and attractive opportunities to improve your financial future. Jonathan will discuss a variety of important financial matters, including investing, planning for a financially-comfortable retirement and thriving throughout your retirement years, getting the right kind of insurance at the right price, and teaching your children about financial responsibility so they won’t have to move back in with you in your dotage. Getting richer is nothing to be ashamed of, and Jonathan is delighted to show you how to do just that.
The one-day event will provide attendees with the insight to make informed financial decisions and the know-how to be financially successful. Throughout the day, four sets of sessions plus two additional sessions give in Spanish will be given on topics for those with varying levels of expertise.
