NYU’s GIPH Hosts Colloquium on Global Public Health Goals

NYU’s Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH) recently hosted the seventh Global Colloquium of University Presidents, focusing on the United Nations’ next set of Millennium Development Goals (the current goals expire in 2015). Organized in partnership with the UN, the colloquium brought together 50 international university presidents and faculty experts for two days of recommendations and analysis.

The program included keynote remarks from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Howard Koh, assistant secretary for health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Other participants were Gordon Brown, former British prime minister, UN special envoy for global education, and NYU distinguished global leader in residence; Cheryl Healton, dean of Global Public Health and GIPH director-designate; Mrs. Ban Soon-taek; and President John Sexton.
