The New York Supreme Court today rejected the petitioners’ request for discovery in a case challenging the City of New York’s approval of NYU’s proposals for fulfilling its academic space needs at its Washington Square campus over the next two decades.
NYU Sr. Vice President Lynne Brown said, “We are very pleased with the judge’s ruling, particularly coming as it does less than three weeks after a ruling in our favor in the other suit filed against the plan. NYU’s expansion proposal was approved by the City of New York after significant stakeholder engagement and after a thorough and rigorous public review process.”
The ruling in the case today denies the petitioners request for discovery of additional documents, ruling against the arguments the petitioners’ made, including their argument that discovery would speed the proceeding. The ruling was signed by Justice Donna Mills of the Supreme Court.
