Five From NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music Among the Nominees for a 2013 Grammy Award

Four faculty members and one alumna from New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at the Tisch School of the Arts, are among the nominees for 2013 Grammy Awards.  The nominations were recently announced (Dec. 5) by the Recording Academy and comprise an eclectic mix of the music industry’s best and brightest over the past year.  The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be presented February 10, 2013 and broadcast live on CBS.

The Grammy nominees from the Clive Davis Institute are:

Jim Anderson – faculty – for Best Surround Sound Album,  Modern Cool, Premonition Records

Errol Kolosine – faculty – represents band nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album, Don't Think, The Chemical Brothers, Astralwerks

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson – faculty – for Best Rap Album, Undun, The Roots, Island Def Jam

Elle Varner – alumna ’08 – for Best R&B Song, Refill, Track from: Perfectly Imperfect; RCA Records/MBK Entertainment; Publishers: Ellevision Music/Sony ATV Songs, Private Stock Entertainment/Songs of Universal, CampStar Music/EMI April

Holly George-Warren – faculty – for Best Album Notes, The Pearl Sessions, Columbia/Legacy

The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music is the first of its kind to provide professional business and artistic training toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The undergraduate program is designed to provide professional training for students who aspire to succeed as creative entrepreneurs in the music industry. The program bears the name of its chief patron and advisor, Clive Davis.
