Roster of Prominent Guest Speakers to Provide an Insider’s View of NYC Real Estate Investment and Development
Leading real estate investors and developers in New York City will present case studies on their latest developments during the 31st Annual Silverstein Workshop hosted by the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate of the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
The Workshop is comprised of six lectures that take place throughout October and November, and that are being co-moderated by Larry A. Silverstein, president and CEO of Silverstein Properties, Inc.; D. Kenneth Patton, former divisional dean and visiting clinical professor at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate; and Robert I. Shapiro, president of City Center Real Estate, Inc.
Guest speakers participating in this year’s workshop titled “Investment and Development Projects and Deals,” include: Thomas Brodsky, The Brodsky Organization; Paul Freitag, managing director of Rose Development, Jonathan Rose Companies LLC; Harry B. Macklowe, chairman of Macklowe Properties; David Thom, vice president of Design & Development, The LeFrak Organization; and Larry A. Silverstein, president and CEO of Silverstein Properties, Inc., all of whom will examine the anatomy of each deal, focusing on the analyses behind investment and development strategies employed. For each property, location, and site analysis, consideration will be given to construction or renovation costs, market conditions, current operating ratios, financial potential, and private and institutional investor reaction.
“The Silverstein Workshop provides an insider’s look at the current state of investment and development in New York City today,” said Rosemary Scanlon, divisional dean of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. “The case study method utilized in this series will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the strategies and the details of a project from beginning to end.”
The Workshop will be held on six consecutive Tuesdays, from October 2 to November 13 (with no class being held on Election Day, November 6), from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m., at the NYU-SCPS Midtown Center, 11 W. 42nd St., Room 421.
