New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Division of Programs in Business, in conjunction with the Financial Planning Association of New York will host the 9th Annual Financial Fitness Workshop to kick-off this year’s National Financial Planning Week in New York. The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at NYU’s School of Law, Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South.

Event to Kick-Off National Financial Planning Week in NYC

New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Division of Programs in Business, in conjunction with the Financial Planning Association of New York will host the 9th Annual Financial Fitness Workshop to kick-off this year’s National Financial Planning Week in New York.  The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at NYU’s School of Law, Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South.

In addition to insights and personal financial strategies from Certified Financial Planners, the workshop will feature a keynote address by Tom Ajamie, a lawyer who has been fighting to recover funds for the victims of fraud for more than 20 years and the co-author of “Financial Serial Killers” which offers investors of all ages and financial stages, tips on how to detect con men, protect their savings, and separate good advisors from bad.  Also featured will be a morning presentation, Perspective on the Market, by Simon Arrata, Fidelity Investments Institutional Services.

The one-day event will provide attendees with the insight to make informed financial decisions and the know-how to be financially successful.  Four sets of sessions on topics for those with varying levels of expertise will be provided throughout the day.  Topics include:

            Constructing Your Portfolio

            Alternative Investments: Hedge Funds, Commodities, REITs

            Making the Most Out Of Less: Smart Planning Techniques

            Paying Yourself in Retirement

            Wills, Living Wills, Healthcare Proxies, Power of Attorney

            Insurance Needs: Life, Property, Casualty, Elder Care

            Credit Scores, Credit Repair & Identity Theft

The workshop is open to the public.  Tickets are for $40; NYU students, faculty, and staff with I.D. $30).   Breakfast and lunch are provided.  The net proceeds of the event will be donated to Project Renewal, a local charity serving the homeless.  Space is limited and reservations are required.
