NYU College of Dentistry Supports the Annual Great American Smokeout, Nov. 18
The Great American Smokeout is an opportunity for smokers to quit for one day in hopes that they quit for good.

Smoking Cessation Specialists On-Hand from 11:30am to 3:30pm Providing Information and Referrals

In New York State there are 2.5 million smokers and most these smokers want to quit their deadly addiction. According to the New York State Tobacco Control Program, it is estimated that 75% of smokers want to quit and nearly 60% of current smokers have tried to quit at least once during the last year.

The Great American Smokeout is an opportunity for smokers to quit for one day in hopes that they quit for good.

The Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program and Nursing Faculty Practice at New York University College of Dentistry have scheduled an information table in honor of the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 18, 2010.  From 11:30 am to 3:30 pm on the ground level commons at the College of Dentistry on 345 East 24th Street, smoking cessation specialists will be providing information and referrals to quit smoking programs, as well as raffling off a free turkey.

Dr. Donna Shelley, clinical associate professor of Cariology & Comprehensive Care and Principal Investigator for the Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program at New York University College of Dentistry, is available for on-camera interviews about the 2010 Great American Smokeout and Manhattan Tobacco Cessation Program.  To schedule an interview, please call Christopher James at 212.998.6876.
