"Jazz Master Class Series at NYU" Debuts Mon., Oct. 4 on NYC Life Channel 25


The first episode of “Jazz Master Class Series from NYU,” which features legends from the jazz world, will air on Mon., Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. on NYC life (Channel 25), the flagship station of NYC Media.

“Jazz Master Class Series from NYU” features legends from the jazz world, performing and discussing their careers in a master class setting, as well as critiquing student jazz musicians from around New York City. The first episode of the seven-part series will air on Mon., Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. on NYC life (Channel 25), the flagship station of NYC Media, the official network of the City of New York, as part of its new fall line-up.

In the premiere episode of the series, legendary jazz trumpet player Clark Terry presents a master class featuring live performance and conversation with student jazz musicians.  An NEA Jazz Master and contemporary of Miles Davis, Terry possesses one of modern jazz’s most recognizable voices on the trumpet.  He has performed with legendary jazz artists, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Quincy Jones, and Thelonious Monk. Performances include jazz standards: “Perdido,” “Bye Bye Blackbird,” and a Terry composition, “Mumbles.”
