Higher Education Leaders to Discuss Role Universities Play in Cities—Dec. 8 at NYU

Higher education leaders will examine the nexus between the university and the city in the 21st century—ranging from economic development to civic culture to urban political dynamics—at a roundtable discussion, “The University and the City,” on Wednesday, December 8, 6 p.m. at New York University’s School of Law, Tishman Auditorium, 40 Washington Square South, (between MacDougal and Sullivan Streets).

The discussion, sponsored by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, will include: Robert Berdahl, president of the Association of American Universities and former chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley; Leslie Berlowitz, president, American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Jared Cohon, president of Carnegie Mellon University; John Sexton, president of NYU; and Ruth Simmons, president of Brown University.
