Robin Nagle, a New York University anthropologist and the New York City Department of Sanitation’s anthropologist-in-residence, will deliver “The Twist-Ties that Bind: Garbage, New York City, and You,” a lecture recounting how the city’s garbage connects New Yorkers to one another as well as to history, politics, infrastructure, and technology, on Wednesday, December 8, 7 p.m. in NYU’s Philosophy Building (5 Washington Place [room 101] at Mercer Street).

Nagle, whose book Picking Up will be published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, is the director of NYU’s Draper Interdisciplinary Master’s Program.
