Burdett, Sassen, and Sennett to Discuss Role of Architecture in Cities—Dec. 1 at NYU’s Institute for Public Knowledge

Saskia Sassen and Richard Sennett will be among the panelists at “Linking the Social to the Physical,” a discussion on the role of architecture in contemporary cities, on Wednesday, December 1, 6:30-8 p.m. at New York University’s Institute for Public Knowledge (20 Cooper Square, 5th Floor Conference Room [between 5th and 6th Streets]). Subways: 6 (Astor Place); N, R (8th Street).

The event, which is free and open to the public, will commence with a keynote address by Ricky Burdett, an NYU Global Distinguished Professor and professor of urban studies at the London School of Economics. The ensuing discussion, which will also include architect David Adjaye, will be moderated by NYU Sociology Professor Craig Calhoun, director of the Institute for Public Knowledge.

Sassen is co-director of the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University;
Sennett is University Professor of the Humanities at NYU; and Adjaye is principal at Adjaye Associates.
