NYU Heyman Center Event: Philanthropy 3.0 Speaker Series “Visualizing Need: Filmmakers as Fundraisers”

On Wednesday, November 17, 2010, from 12:00-2:00 pm, a panel of some of the city’s most exciting filmmakers, video activists, and interactive game developers screen samples of their work and discuss new ways that nonprofits can use video to fight social ills.  Hosted by The George H. Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the series features national leaders in philanthropy innovation debating disruptive changes in the sector, including the latest influences of social media, cause video, the social enterprise movement, and mobile fundraising.

This luncheon panel will address the effectiveness of film as a tool for fundraising, discuss the merits to using a cause video as a cost-effective way to compete for fundraising dollars, and describe how some nonprofits are using video games to promote social change and educate the public on complex social issues.

WHAT:    “Visualizing Need: Filmmakers as Fundraisers” is the second luncheon panel in the Philanthropy 3.0 Speaker Series hosted by the Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
