As the NYU Silver School of Social Work celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2010, the Fiftieth Anniversary Benefit Celebration marks the culmination of the year, which has featured special events and lectures. Details on the Benefit Celebration follow:
WHEN: Wednesday, November 10, 2010, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. - Fiftieth Anniversary Benefit Celebration Conversation with John Sexton, president of NYU; Henry Louis Gates Jr., host of PBS series “Faces of America,” and Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University; Carol Gilligan, author of In a Different Voice and University Professor at NYU School of Law. The Conversation will be moderated by Lynn Videka, dean and professor at the NYU Silver School of Social Work.
6:00 p.m. - Cocktails.
7:00 p.m. - Dinner emceed by Harry Smith, anchor of CBS News’ The Early Show, will honor Eleanore Z. Korman, former administrator and dean of the Silver School of Social Work, and Judy Tobias Davis, former fundraiser at the Silver School of Social Work.

“This anniversary has provided us the chance to reflect on the School’s accomplishments and commitment to social justice while looking to our future,” said Videka. “The Silver School certainly would not be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of Elly Korman and Judy Tobias Davis. With combined tenures spanning over 50 years, it is a great pleasure to publicly recognize these extraordinary women’s critical contributions during this milestone year.”
All proceeds from the gala will benefit student scholarships.
