NYU's Catalan Center Presents Creative Documentary Film Series this Fall

September 28, 2010
N-051

This fall, New York University’s Catalan Center, in collaboration with NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, will present a weekly series of films produced and inspired by the master’s program in Creative Documentary at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain.

The M.A. in Creative Documentary at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona has existed only since 1998, but its influence on European documentary filmmaking is already recognized. This year the Rotterdam Film Festival dedicated a special section, “Signals,” to exploring the constellation of films produced and inspired by the program. The NYU film series represents the first opportunity to review these films in New York City. Professor Jordi Balló, director of the UPF program and author of several books on film, will be present at the series’ opening and close to frame the films and the UPF mission, and to respond to questions.

The programs are free and open to the public. Unless otherwise noted, the films are screened at the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South. The films are:
