NYU College of Nursing Presents a Guest Lecture by Dr. John W. Rowe on “The future of Nursing” October 12, 2010

New York University College of Nursing invites you to a special guest lecture on the “Future of Nursing” by John W. Rowe, M.D., professor of health policy and management, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.  The lecture is being held Tuesday, October 12, 2010, 8:30AM - 10:00AM at NYU’s  Kimmel Center, Rosenthal Pavilion, 10th floor, 60 Washington Square South,  NYC.

Dr. Rowe is a committee member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Initiative on the Future of Nursing, at the Institute of Medicine (IOM).  He will be giving an overview of the RWJF/IOM initiative, an update on the progress of the committee, and talk about the agenda and blueprint for action including changes in public and institutional policies at the national, state and local levels which would address a range of system changes, including innovative ways to solve the nursing shortage in the U.S.

About Dr. Rowe:  John W. Rowe, MD, is a professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Rowe earned a bachelor’s degree from Canisius College and a doctor of medicine from the University of Rochester. He has authored more than 200 scientific publications, mostly on the physiology of the aging process, including a leading textbook of geriatric medicine, in addition to more recent publications on health care policy. He is also co-author, with Robert Kahn, Ph.D., of the book, Successful Aging.
