King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center Hosts Spanish Poetry and Creative Writing this Fall

A series of poetry and creative writing readings will be hosted this fall by New York University’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South.  The readings, which take place in Spanish, are free and open to the public.  For more information, call 212.998.3650 or visit www.nyu.edu/kjc.

Poetry reading: Spanish poet and critic Marta López-Luaces will present her new book Los arquitectos de lo imaginario (2010).

Wed., Oct. 13, 7 p.m.
Literary converation: Escrituras de la intimidad: a dialogue between renowned Argentine writers Arturo Carrera and Sylvia Molloy.

Thurs., Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Poetry reading: Argentine poet and translator Arturo Carrera reads from his work.

Thurs., Oct. 28, 7 p.m.
Literary conversation: La máquina de escribir de Missana: a dialogue between renowned Chilean writers Sergio Missana and Diamela Eltit. Note: Location TBD.

Thurs., Nov. 11, 7 p.m.
Poetry reading: American poet and editor Rachel Levitsky will read from her new book Neighbor (2010), translated into Spanish by Valeria Mejer. Bilingual reading. Location TBD.

Thurs., Nov. 18, 7 p.m.
Reading: Latino Voices in the U.S.: a discussion and reading by Edmundo Paz Soldán.

Thurs., Dec. 9, 7 p.m.
Reading: Escribo o reviento: a presentation of his dramatic aesthetics by controversial Spanish playwright Inigo Ramírez de Haro.

A reception will follow the poetry readings, which are co-sponsored by NYU’s MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish Program. The poetry series is curated by Lila Zemborain, clinical professor in the NYU Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures.
