The New York University Creative Writing Program’s Fall 2010 Reading Series will feature author Jonathan Safran Foer on Thursday, September 16, 7 p.m. at NYU’s Rosenthal Pavilion, Kimmel Center for University Life, New York University, 60 Washington Square South (at LaGuardia Place), 10th Floor. Foer will read from Eating Animals, his first work of nonfiction, published by Little, Brown & Company in 2009 and in paperback by Back Bay Books in September. Synthesizing philosophy, literature, science, memoir and his own investigations, Eating Animals explores the many stories we use to justify our eating habits—folklore and pop culture, family traditions and national myth, apparent facts and inherent fictions.

Foer is the author of the bestselling novels Everything Is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Foer, whom Time magazine dubbed a “certified wunderkind,” is a Collegiate Professor and the Lillian Vernon Distinguished Writer-in-Residence in the NYU Creative Writing Program.
