The Tisch School of the Arts has announced that ARRI, the largest manufacturer of professional motion picture equipment in the world, has given $50,000 towards the establishment of a fund to support cinematographers in the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television.  The award, named in honor of ARRI’s former CEO and President Volker Bahnermann, will be in the form of an annual $2,500 production grant given to one cinematographer in the either the undergraduate or graduate division of the Kanbar Institute.

“I was truly overwhelmed when I learned of this philanthropic gift from my friends and colleagues,” said Bahnemann.  “Words alone cannot fully express my appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has generously contributed to establish this award for future generations of cinematographers.”

In order to be eligible, a recipient must be in his or her senior year in the undergraduate division, or either a second year or thesis student in the graduate division.    Honorees will be selected by the faculty of the Kanbar Institute and must demonstrate an excellence in cinematography.
