Peter Mandelson, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills, will discuss “Is the Banking Crisis a Failure of Globalization?” on Wednesday, March 3, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at New York UAbout NYUniversity’s D’Agostino Hall-Lipton Hall, 108 West 3rd Street (between MacDougal and Sullivan Streets). Lord Mandelson was appointed Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills (BIS) following the creation of the new department in June 2009, when he was also appointed First Secretary of State and Lord President of the Council. He was European Union Commissioner for Trade from 2004 to 2008 and was appointed Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise, and Regulatory Reform in October 2008. Previously, he served as UK chairman of the UK-Japan 21st Century Group, which brings together leading academics, politicians, and business leaders.
