Helen Graham, visiting professor in the department of history at New York University and King Juan Carlos I of Spain chair of Spanish American Culture and Civilization, will offer two public lectures in addition to a film series and round table on The Afterlife of Violence this spring. The events, which will take place at NYUs King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South, are free and open to the public. On Monday, February 1 at 7 p.m., Graham will present a public lecture, The Memory of Murder: Mass Killings, Incarceration, and the Making of Francoism.
On Monday, April 19 at 7 p.m., she will present Fighting the War, Breaking the Mold: Notes for a Life of Bill Aalto, International Brigadier and Writer (1915-1958). Co-sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives.
