NYU’s Creative Writing Program Features January Events with Authors C.K. Williams, Lydia Davis, and Jonathan Lethem

The New York University Creative Writing Program’s Spring 2010 Reading Series begins in January with events featuring authors C. K. Williams (January 22), Lydia Davis (January 28), and Jonathan Lethem (January 29). Events are held in the program’s Greenwich Village home, the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House at 58 W. 10th Street, unless otherwise noted. Subways: F, L, V (6th Avenue); 1 (Christopher Street); A, B, C, D, E, F, V (West 4th Street). The series is free and open to the public. Friday, January 22, 7 p.m.
The Emerging Writers Reading Series, which showcases the students of the NYU graduate Creative Writing Program, will feature C. K. Williams as a special guest. Williams is the author of numerous books of poetry, including The Singing (2003), which won the National Book Award, and Repair, winner of a Pulitzer Prize. His new book of poems, Wait, is due in April 2010. Note location: KGB Bar, 85 East 4th Street.

Thursday, January 28, 7 p.m.
Lydia Davis is the acclaimed author of five collections of short fiction, including Varieties of Disturbance (a 2007 National Book Award finalist) and The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis, as well as a novel, The End of the Story. Davis is also the translator of many French literary works, including Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust.

Friday, January 29, 5 p.m.
Jonathan Lethem, the author of seven novels, one novella, two short-story collections, and a volume of essays, will be featured as part of “The New Salon: Writers in Conversation” series. Lethem’s newest novel is Chronic City. He is currently the Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at the NYU Creative Writing Program. In conversation with author Darin Strauss.
