NYU’s Maison Française Presents First Public Screening of New Documentary on Chef Daniel Boulud, Sept. 23


The film traces Boulud s path from his family s farm in the village of St. Pierre de Chandieu to a career as one of America s most respected chefs and restaurateurs. Following the screening, Dorothy Cann Hamilton, founder and CEO of The French Culinary Institute, will interview Boulud.

Boulud in Conversation with French Culinary Institute CEO, Following Screening

Daniel Boulud, chef-owner of ten award-winning restaurants and the Feast & Fêtes catering company, is showcased in a new documentary film, Un Certain Goût de L’Amérique: Daniel Boulud (Thierry Bellaïche, 2008, 49 min; in French with English subtitles), to be screened on Wednesday, September 23, 7 p.m., at the New York University Cantor Film Center, 36 E. 8th Street. The first public screening of the documentary, this event is presented by NYU’s Maison Française. Tickets are $10; $5, for NYU students with ID. The film traces Boulud’s path from his family’s farm in the village of St. Pierre de Chandieu to a career as one of America’s most respected chefs and restaurateurs.

Following the screening, Dorothy Cann Hamilton, founder and CEO of The French Culinary Institute, will interview Boulud.

Over the past two decades, Boulud has evolved from a chef to a chef restaurateur, bringing his artistry to his New York City restaurants DANIEL, Café Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne, Bar Boulud, and DBGB Kitchen and Bar. In addition, he has created Café Boulud in Palm Beach and Daniel Boulud Brasserie in the Wynn Las Vegas Resort. In May 2008, he opened Maison Boulud in the Legation Quarter in Beijing China.

Boulud’s culinary accolades include James Beard Foundation awards for “Outstanding Restaurateur,” “Best Chef of New York City,” and “Outstanding Chef of the Year.”
