Aziz Ansari and John Mulaney Take to the Stage with a Night of Comedy at NYU Skirball Center, Oct. 29

Ansari Plays Tom Haverford on the NBC Hit Comedy Series “Parks and Recreation”

New York University alumnus Aziz Ansari (‘04) along with John Mulaney bring standup and sketch comedy to NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing arts on October 8, 2009 at 8pm as part of the Project 566: What’s Next series. This eclectic series showcases what’s next in comedy, dance, music and theater.

Ansari plays the role of Tom Haverford in the new NBC series Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler. The L.A. based actor/comedian was one of the stars and creators of the critically acclaimed MTV sketch-comedy series Human Giant and headlined his own stand-up comedy tour. In addition, Ansari guest starred on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, and appeared on the ABC sitcom Scrubs as Ed Dhandapani, a new hospital intern.

The comedian appeared in a trio of films in 2009: Observe and Report with Seth Rogen, I Love You, Man with Paul Rudd, and the Judd Apatow film Funny People as Randy, an energetic stand-up comedian. He has been singled out in the media as a “hot standup” and a “comedian to watch.” And at the 2006 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival he was given the Jury Award for Best Standup.

John Mulaney is known for his banter on VH1’s Best Week Ever and has performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. His half-hour Comedy Central Presents premiered earlier this year, and his album The Top Part dropped in March. Mulaney has toured with Patton Oswalt and Mike Birbiglia. He also wrote for Comedy Central’s Important Things with Demetri Martin and currently writes for Saturday Night Live.
