2nd Annual “Green Apple Move Out” Collection Drive Organized During Annual Dorm Move-Out, May 1st-17th
New York University is organizing the 2nd annual Green Apple Move Out collection project for NYU Residence Halls. Students moving out this spring will be able to drop off their unwanted and gently used items and non-perishable food in designated locations in their residence halls for collection and donation to local non-profit organizations.
“Everyone at NYU is excited about the ‘Move Out,’ as it is a win-win-win: local charities get usable items, NYU reduces its waste, and participating students are given the opportunity to do the right thing,” says Jennie Tichenor, the Move Out’s creator.
Due to last years great success the university decided to incorporate the Green Apple Move Out into the facilities department. Now the program is managed by NYU’s Recycling Coordinator, Sarah Boll, who says,”I am so happy we are able to expand the program to all NYU residence halls and have gotten wonderful support from Facility Managers, Housing Managers and Residential Education. It is truly a team effort that will have a positive outcome for everyone involved.”
