NYU Professor Anna Deavere Smith, Author, Actress, and Playwright, Will Deliver the Annual State of Anti-Semitism Lecture at 92nd Street Y, Feb. 2

Anna Deavere Smith, author, actress, playwright, and New York University professor will deliver the Annual State of Anti-Semitism Lecture at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on Monday, February 2, 2009. Her unique talk and performance, entitled Hatred Knows No Boundaries, will address the themes of hatred, racial conflict, and genocide.

Smith is an NYU University Professor, and professor of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts with an affiliate at the NYU School of Law. She founded and directed the Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue, and is the author of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and Letters to a Young Artist, among other works. Smith has appeared in several films, including Philadelphia and The American President, and had recurring roles on The West Wing and The Practice. She was also in the recent feature film Rachel Getting Married. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The New Yorker, and other publications.
