Diane Birch to Perform at NYU Skirball Center, Feb. 13

December 18, 2009
N-184, 2009-10

The Singer-Songwriter Is Part of Skirball’s Cutting-Edge Series “Project 566: What’s Next”

Fresh from the release of her debut album Bible Belt, singer-songwriter Diane Birch brings her unique style to New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts for a one-night-only concert on February 13, at 8:00 pm as part of the Skirball Center’s cutting-edge series, Project 566: What’s Next Series.

Creatively fueled by her upbringing in Michigan as the daughter of a preacher as well as her experiences living in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia before returning to the U.S., Birch has been said to strike a chord with audiences nationwide, demonstrating exactly why she is an artist to watch. With a unique and cosmopolitan perspective on life that shines through her music, a simple categorization of her work is completely impossible.

Released in May of 2009, Bible Belt was recorded in New York City and New Orleans with the formidable team of Grammy-winning producers S-Curve Records founder Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright, and Mike Mangini.

Birch was recently shortlisted by a number of media outlets for a Grammy nomination in the Best New Artist category. She has also been seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and the Today Show. In January, following seven months of extensive touring both in the U.S. and abroad, Diane will accompany Nick Jonas and The Administration as special guest on the group’s 2010 tour.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.skirballcenter.nyu.edu, by phone at 212.352.3101 (toll-free 866.811.4111), or in person at the Skirball Center Box Office. Regular priced tickets are $25.
