NYU’s Fusion Film Festival to Celebrate its Sixth Year, Feb 26-28

Festival Opens with the Special Screening of Christine Jeffs’s Sunshine Cleaning

New York University’s Fusion Film Festival, a student-run event in the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at the Tisch School of the Arts celebrating the work of women filmmakers, will mark its sixth anniversary when it unspools from February 26 through 28, 2009. The Festival theme this year is entitled Women Behind the Camera and honors the work of women cinematographers.

The centerpiece of the Festival will be the special screening of Christine Jeffs’s Sundance hit, Sunshine Cleaning, a dramatic comedy starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin. And Peter Saraf, the film’s producer, will attend the screening. Other Festival highlights include: a panel on film blogging entitled “Smart Talk” by Women & Hollywood’s Melissa Silverstein, who will moderate; a student documentary pitch; screenplay and film competitions; a roundtable with Maryse Alberti (The Wrestler); and the New York premiere of Alexis Krasilovsky’s Shooting Women followed by a panel discussion with cinematographers Nancy Schreiber, ASC (American Gun), Valentina Caniglia (The Woods Have Eyes), and Sandi Sissel, ASC (Salaam Bombay!).
