The celebration will be hosted by the magazine’s executive editors — the poet Matthew Rohrer, author of five poetry collections, most recently Rise Up, and fiction writer Darin Strauss, author of Chang and Eng, The Real McCoy, and More than it Hurts You. The evening will also feature readings from magazine contributors John Yau, Rudolph Delson, and Eduardo Jiménez Mayo. There will be a reception following the reading and a raffle for signed copies of celebrated works by NYU Creative Writing Program faculty including Sharon Olds, Yusef Komunyakaa, Breyten Breytenbach, Philip Levine, and Chuck Wachtel.

Since its inception in 1995, Washington Square has published such prominent writers as Dan Chiasson, Stephen Dunn, Ilya Kaminsky, Rick Moody, Donald Revell, Charles Simic, and Alice Quinn, as well as many emerging writers, some of whom are now winning awards for their first books. In the forthcoming issue, due out in February, contributors will include Steve Almond, David Kirby, Paul Muldoon, Carole Muske-Dukes, and many more.
