Revised Schedule of Performances for “Aurélia’s Oratorio”

Media Advisory

  • WHAT: Aurélia’s Oratorio, a hit international sensation starring Aurélia Thiérrée in a display of acrobatics, dance, puppetry, and dazzling stage invention directed and designed by her mother, Victoria Thiérrée Chaplin.
  • WHO: Aurélia Thierrée has been performing since childhood, initially with her parents Jean Baptiste Thierrée and Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, the pioneers of the new circus with their legendary Cirque Invisible and Cirque Imaginaire. A beguiling actress and performer, Thiérrée inhabits a topsy-turvy world where ice cream burns, shoes hang on hat racks, and alarm clocks ring when it’s time to sleep. In a nearly wordless performance, she infuses vignettes of everyday occurrences with magic and wit, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. She is joined on stage by actor/dancer Julio Monge. The New York premiere follows on the heels of sold-out performances everywhere from London’s West End to the Spoleto Festival and Hong Kong.
  • WHEN: Aurélia’s Oratorio will play for three performances only, November 20 and 21 at 8:00 PM, and November 22 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $40. It is suitable for ages 9 and up.
  • WHERE: The Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at New York University, now in its fifth year, is the premier venue for the presentation of cultural and performing arts events for NYU and lower Manhattan. For a current listing of the Skirball Center’s 2008-09 season visit: Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Center’s website, by phone at 212.352.3101, or in person at the Skirball Center’s Shagan Box Office. New York University’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts is located at 566 LaGuardia Place (at Washington Square South).
