Uzi Dayan, former Chairman of the Israeli National Security Council, will deliver the lecture “Israeli National Security: Contemporary Issues and Challenges for the Future,” at New York University’s Kimmel Center for University Life, Room 914, on Mon., April 14, at 12:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Masters Degree program at NYU’s Wilf Family Department of Politics, is free and open to the public. Dayan is the both founder and president of the Annual Israel Conference for Social and Economic Policy in Sderot and the Chairman of the youth organization Chugey Sayarut. He served as a soldier in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) during the Six Days War, a commander of a combat team during the War of Attrition, and a commander of a company in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Major General Dayan also headed the planning branch of the IDF General Staff, where he led the Israeli Security Committee in the country’s peace negotiations with Jordan, Syria, and the Palestinians.
