The NYU Masters’ Program in Global Public Health will present a discussion entitled “Hidden Hunger: Micronutrient Deficiencies & the Developing World” on Thursday, March 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cantor Boardroom, NYU Kauffman Management Center, 44 West 4th St., 11th Floor.

Micronutrient malnutrition affects approximately 2 billion people worldwide. The adverse effects of micronutrient deficiencies are profound and include premature death, poor health, blindness, growth stunting, mental retardation, learning disabilities, and low work capacity. Please join us as our distinguished guests outline and discuss a significant and innovative way this issue is being addressed - fortifying flour with important vitamins and minerals - and how the health and nutrition impacts of this and similar interventions are monitored and evaluated. Also under discussion will be different ways to think about design and implementation of evaluation systems for this public health intervention in developing countries.
