Researchers Attribute Thinning of Greenland Glacier to Ocean Warming Preceded by Atmospheric Changes

The study, whose lead author was David Holland, director of the Center for Atmosphere Ocean Science, part of New York Universitys Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, suggests that ocean temperatures may be more important for glacier flow than previously thought.

Alfred Bloom, President of Swarthmore, to Lead NYU Abu Dhabi

On September 29, 2008, NYU announced the appointment of Alfred H. Bloom, the highly respected president of Swarthmore College, as Vice Chancellor of NYU Abu Dhabi. While completing his term as Swarthmores president, he will serve as a consultant; he will assume full-time leadership of NYU Abu Dhabi in August 2009. NYU Abu Dhabis first students will arrive in fall 2010.
