The Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at New York University presents the New York premiere of Aurélias Oratorio, a hit international sensation starring Aurélia Thiérrée in a display of acrobatics, dance, puppetry, and dazzling stage invention directed and designed by her mother, Victoria Thiérrée Chaplin. Inspired by medieval drawings, the magic of music hall, variety show, and circus, Aurélias Oratorio will play for four performances only, November 20 and 21 at 8:00 PM, November 22 at 2:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. Tickets are $40. It is suitable for ages 9 and up.
Aurélia Thierrée has been performing since childhood, initially with her parents Jean Baptiste Thierrée and Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, the pioneers of the new circus with their legendary Cirque Invisible and Cirque Imaginaire. A beguiling actress and performer, Thiérrée inhabits a topsy-turvy world where ice cream burns, shoes hang on hat racks, and alarm clocks ring when its time to sleep. In a nearly wordless performance, she infuses vignettes of everyday occurrences with magic and wit, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. She is joined on stage by actor/dancer Julio Monge. The New York premiere follows on the heels of sold-out performances everywhere from Londons West End to the Spoleto Festival and Hong Kong.
