NYU Sports Business & Management Professors Available for Interview On Yankees Owner's Decision About Whether to Keep Joe Torre

Professors Lee Igel, Wayne McDonnell, Michael Cramer and Robert Boland of NYU’s Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management are available for interview regarding the New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner’s decision about whether to keep manager Joe Torre or let him go after twelve consecutive post-season appearances. They each offer their own perspectives on the pending decision and are available for immediate comment or debate.

Lee Igel is an expert in human performance, organizational behavior, and psychology. Igel has worked in professional baseball in player development, and is now teaching leadership and organizational behavior at the Tisch Center. He can offer a psychological perspective to the topic.

Wayne McDonnell, Jr., has written about George Steinbrenner and Major League Baseball. He is also an expert in franchise operations and financial management in professional baseball, and the finance and economics of professional sports.

Michael Cramer is a former president of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars, and is a leading sports and business executive who recently joined the Tisch Center faculty. His expertise includes building and leading major organizations in the hospitality and sports industries and he also has several years of experience practicing law.

Robert Boland is an expert in sports business and law with experience as a labor, antitrust and criminal lawyer. Boland has negotiated more than 100 player and endorsement contracts in a variety of sports, and has experience as a sports agent, coach and manager of sporting events at the national and international levels.
