Annual Debate Contest To Take Place Across NYU’s Global Network

NYU today launched its annual Bickel & Brewer – NYU Global Debate Competition for academic year 2012-13. Student teams from all 14 NYU global sites will compete for $37,000 in prizes. The topic for the 2012-13 competition is: "Resolved: Increased taxes on the wealthy will not improve the global economy.” The competition is made possible through a gift from The Bickel & Brewer Foundation.

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, NYU President John Sexton and President Esperanza Aguirre of the Madrid Regional government today agreed to begin a study of ways to expand NYU’s academic program in Madrid. The Government of Madrid has identified an exceptional property where such an expanded program might be located – el Palacio del Marqués de Salamanca de la Finca de Vista Alegre – where the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.

NYU Receives Record Number of Freshman Applications

NYU today announced that it had another record year for freshman applications: 42,242 men and women applied for spots in NYU’s class of 2015, exceeding last year’s record for total applications by 11 percent. Applications for freshman admission to NYU have more than quadrupled over the past two decades.
